Foam pigs
Foam pigs are moulded from polyurethane foam and are available in a variety of configurations and foam densities. The materials they are made from were especially chosen due to their tear and wear characteristics.
The foam pigs are used for drying pipelines, for cleaning and product separation as well as for emptying and filling pipelines.
Foam pigs are also widely used during rehabilitation work. They are particularly useful when developing a pigging program for a line which has not been regularly pigged and which may contain some unexpected problems.

Bi-Directional Pig
Size 4″ to 12″:
These pigs or scrapers are made up of a number of component parts which are mounted on a central bolt so that they may be replaced or re-configured as the need arises. Different ultra-durable polyurethane disks are used for centering, guiding and sealing or cleaning action.
Size 14″ to 56″:
These pigs or scrapers are made of steel. The driving disks or cups are made of ultra-durable polyurethane, whilst the cleaning elements are in a material and configuration which is determined by the nature of the deposit and therefore the specific cleaning task. For hard deposits or the scooping out of pittings wire brushes are used, whilst with soft materials such as some waxes, sludges etc. elastomer "plough" blades may be used.
Bi-Di pigs have a wide range of applications such as:
- Cleaning pig - equipped with or without steel brushes
- batching,
- filling or emptying,
- gauging (tool fitted with a gauging disk or plate),
- leak detection (fitted with further equipment).

MEFS can fit the tools offered with a variety of disk types, e.g. different sizes, hardness or densities in order to provide an optimum configuration regarding:
- Cleaning action,
- sealing characteristics,
- bend radius capabilities,
- Flexibility (pass locations with reduced inner diameter),
- distance characteristics (suitable for long lines)
- Temperature capabilities (-30°C to +80°C).
The disks are made from ultra-durable high quality polyurethane. The shore hardness for guiding disks is 85 shore grade A and 70 shore grade A for the sealing disks.

Transmitter
MEFS manufactures pig location transmitters for tool sizes ranging from 3" to 60". Depending on the specific tasks, different types of transmitters are available. These include units that are bolted on to a tool, trailing, inserted into a foam pig or self contained, i.e. running as an independent pig body.
Receivers
MEFS receivers are used to receive signals provided by the pig location transmitters. State-of-the-art electronics is used to ensure good reception of the signals.
Through an optimized combination of analogue and digital filtering it is ensured that the received signal is extracted reliably from a broad spectrum of existing noise. In addition, the signals are analyzed by software and displayed subsequently.
The receiver can be used for manual or automated applications. When a pig location transmitter passes the receiver, the exact passage time and the number of received signals is recorded.
A 4 x 20 digits alphanumerical LCD-display is used to visualize all relevant data. The reception level is displayed on the LCD as a bargraph and made audible by an accoustic signal.
The receivers provided by MEFS can be used for all transmitter types available on the market.
